Register of Electors
Aylesbury Vale DC has deffered publication of it's revised register of electors due to local government by-elections (and also a Neighbourhood Plan Referendum) being held on 11th December. The regulations provide that in such circumstances publication must take place by 1st February. We plan to publish our revised version on the 2nd January.
Please note that we intend to re-publish our registers on 30th January to take account of boundary changes arising from the local Government Boundary Commission's new electoral arrangements for Aylesbury Vale DC which will come into effect for our local elections on the 7th May 2015.

Aylesbury Vale is one of the most improved areas in the country for recycling household waste, according to the latest figures released by Defra. Figures show we have increased levels of recycling from 38% (2012/13) to 51% (2013/14), making AVDC the second most improved coucil in England and Wales in diverting waste from landfill to recycling.
Our own recycling figures back this up as we are regularly recycling over 51% of our waste. This makes us one of the top performers in the country - a long way from 2011 when we were in the bottom five councils. Last year, we collected over 11,000 tonnes of food and gardn waste and around 18,000 tonnes of dry recyclables. That's the weight of about 20 jumbo jets.
You may also be interested to know that 80% of all the recycling material collected is recycled within 50 miles of the materials recycling factory.

Thursday 1st January will be collected on Friday 2nd January

What to Recycle at Christmas
Lots of extra things we use during the festive period can now be recycled - Christmas cards and wrapping paper, paper plates and napkins, paper decorations, crackers and paper hats, card gift boxes and packaging.
All of this extra recycling means that recycling bins may fill up quickly. Normally we don't accept any plastic bags in recycling bins, but on this occassion only, residents can put out any excess recycling in open clear carrier bags placed on top of, or next to, their recycling bin. Our crews need to be able to see at a glance that the bag only contains recyclable products.
Garden Waste at Christmas
Residents using our Garden Waste Collection service can put wreaths or holly and mistletoe and real Christmas trees in their brown garden waste bin (all metal and decorationsmust be removed). Alternatively, trees can be taken to recycling centres in Aston Clinton, Buckingham and Aylesbury.
There are no garden waste collections after the 1st December - Collections will resume in February.
